<p>On a personal level, 2024 has been a year of challenges, change, and exploration—one filled with travel, growth, and the joy of bringing things together. Yet, if I had to pick one defining moment, it would undoubtedly be welcoming Teddington (Teddy), into our lives last January.</p>



<p>It was unexpected. This time last year, getting a dog wasn’t even on the radar. But by the end of the month, Teddy, a Bordoodle, had joined our family, and everything changed. He has brought so much joy, love, and warmth into our lives—more than I could have imagined. Now, as Teddy turns one, he continues to be a constant source of happiness and presence, teaching us about kindness and unconditional love every single day.</p>



<p>The last time I had a dog, a Bichon Frise called Cindy, I was just 15. When she passed away, the pain was so deep that I closed myself off to the possibility of having that kind of connection again. But Teddy has taught me something profoundly important:</p>

<p class="has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a5d015ca3a1b21ae54540a7d8ff2b1a1">&#8220;None of us have our acts together; we are all works in progress.&#8221;— Steve Griffiths<br><br>Steve’s words at the recent Future of Leadership Masterclass in Sydney resonated deeply with me, and I know they struck a chord with many others as well. Why? Because it&#8217;s true, and it reminds us that perfection isn&#8217;t the goal—progress is.<br><br>Throughout my life, I’ve chased perfection, and that pursuit has led me on an incredible journey, but I&#8217;ve made many sacrifices along the way:<br><br>At 26, I stopped drinking alcohol.<br>At 27, I pushed my body to its limits by training for the London Marathon in just six months.<br>At 35, I overhauled my diet, challenging my body even further.<br>At 40, I introduced meditation into my life, despite a packed schedule.<br>At 43, I began tracking my daily habits and journaling my thoughts each morning.<br>At 47, I decided to disconnect from mainstream news.<br><br>Each of these changes were difficult at first, but they eventually became my new normal. Now, I can see the return on investment of these practices—they&#8217;ve equipped me to support others in ways I never imagined. </p>



<p class="has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9ee0b6d090c451de850c6fe21bc1c36f">Today, I’m not quite the all or nothing person I once was. I&#8217;ve learned about the importance of relaxation and recovery, and I do indulge in life’s simple pleasures. However, when I feel anxiety creeping in, I elevate my daily habits to quickly regain my equilibrium. </p>



<p><strong>Moving towards High Performance</strong></p>



<p class="has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f01f75080a4be01c9b3af535f37d014f">A key tool that supports my own personal performance is a daily check-in process that gives me the space to reflect and see things more clearly.</p>



<p class="has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f4afde336ea11c186b427295850f0c0a">Research shows that the adopting a consistent habit of reflection has been shown to improve wellbeing and lead to:</p>

<li>Increased capacity</li>



<li>Improved memory</li>



<li>Improved focus</li>



<li>Improved follow-through</li>



<li>Improved sustainable performance</li>
</ul>



<p>Over the years, I have developed a daily practice that incorporates reflection, gratitude, planning and intention setting. It has become my non-negotiable daily habit, and i have pulled it all together into a PDF to help you start to elevate your own daily habits.</p>
